From Stanford to Lake Mary
Dr. Makar began his medical training at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine and completed his Neurology residency at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville.
He then completed a neuro-oncology fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center, focused on complex brain and spine tumors.

What does it mean to be a "Fellowship-Trained" Neuro-Oncologist?
It means Dr. Makar completed additional, specialized training in brain and spine tumors after his neurology residency, at Stanford University Medical Center. That lets him plan care for complex tumors here, and coordinate with oncology and surgical teams when needed.
I have already been diagnosed elsewhere. Can I come for a second opinion?
Yes. A second opinion can help confirm a diagnosis, especially for brain tumors, MS, and rare conditions. Dr. Makar reviews cases from other doctors. You can keep your current care team or move your care to Charis.
Does Dr. Makar only treat brain tumors?
No. While Dr. Makar is a specialist in neuro-oncology, he is also a board-certified neurologist who treats the full range of neurological conditions, including migraine, multiple sclerosis (MS), neuropathy, memory disorders, seizures, and Parkinson’s disease.
Do you offer infusion therapy at the office?
Yes. We give infusion medicines for MS, Alzheimer's disease, and brain tumors in our Lake Mary office, with a nurse monitoring each infusion. The infusion suite has a private room and a shared space.
Does Dr. Makar accept my insurance?

Why is having an MRI and EEG on-site better for me?
Everything in one office. Our 1.5T MRI and EEG are down the hall from Dr. Makar, so imaging and testing fit into the same care plan instead of a separate trip to an outside imaging center.
Which areas of Central Florida do you serve?
Our office is in Lake Mary, just off I-4. We see patients from Seminole, Orange, Volusia, and Lake Counties, including Sanford, Longwood, Winter Park, Orlando, Deltona, and nearby communities. Parking is on site.
