Dr. Sherif Makar is board-certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (since 2017), completed his neuro-oncology fellowship at Stanford University, and is certified in neuro-oncology by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties (since 2023). That training means complex brain and spine tumors can be evaluated here, alongside everyday neurology such as migraine, neuropathy, and memory concerns.

TESTING
On-Site EEG and EMG
EEG and EMG/nerve conduction studies are done on site, so your results go straight to your neurologist.
On-site services at a glance
- 1.5T wide-bore MRI: detailed pictures of the brain and spine, read by our radiologist, Dr. Soheil Sooudi. You lie still in the scanner, and our team screens for metal and implants before every scan.
- EEG: records the brain’s electrical activity through small sensors on the scalp. The test is painless.
- EMG and nerve conduction studies: check how nerves and muscles are working, using mild electrical pulses on the skin and a thin needle in some muscles. The muscle may be sore for a few days.
- Infusion therapy: IV medicines for MS, Alzheimer's disease, and brain tumors, given in our infusion suite with nurse monitoring.

Do you offer diagnostic testing on-site?
Yes. Charis Neurology provides on-site MRI, EEG, EMG/nerve studies, and infusion therapy whenever clinically appropriate, so many patients receive evaluation and treatment in one coordinated location.
Do I need a referral to see a neurologist?
Referral requirements vary by insurance plan. Some plans require a referral from your primary care provider, while others allow you to schedule directly. Our Lake Mary team can help verify what your plan requires before your first neurology visit.
How soon can I get an appointment?
Availability changes by week. New patients are seen in the office, and established patients can also book telehealth visits. If you have new or worsening neurological symptoms, call us and we will help find the earliest appropriate appointment. If you think you are having a medical emergency, call 911.

Care is led by Dr. Sherif Makar, a board-certified neurologist who completed his neuro-oncology fellowship at Stanford and is UCNS-certified in neuro-oncology, with support from the Charis Neurology advanced practice team. Dr. Makar oversees diagnosis, testing, and treatment planning.

Yes. Patients park on site at the Primera Boulevard office. If you need mobility support, call before your visit and our team can help you plan your arrival.
Can I come for a second opinion about a brain or spine tumor?
Yes. Dr. Makar completed his neuro-oncology fellowship at Stanford and is UCNS-certified in neuro-oncology, so Charis Neurology can provide second-opinion evaluations for brain tumors, metastatic brain tumors, spine oncology concerns, treatment planning, and survivorship questions.
