Unlike general practitioners, Astrid holds a specialized board certification in Rehabilitation Nursing (CRRN). This means she is expertly trained to help patients with chronic conditions, such as Stroke, TBI, or Parkinson’s, regain their maximum independence. Her focus goes beyond just "treating the disease"; she creates care plans designed to improve your mobility, daily function, and quality of life at home.
Sí. (Yes.) Astrid is fully fluent in Spanish. She is passionate about removing language barriers in healthcare. If you or a family member prefer to communicate in Spanish, she can conduct your entire consultation, from medical history to treatment planning, in your native language, ensuring nothing is lost in translation.
Yes. Astrid has deep experience in this field, having served as a charge nurse in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) at the Orlando Epilepsy Center. She is highly skilled in managing anti-epileptic medications, recognizing seizure triggers, and supporting patients through the diagnostic process. She works closely with Dr. Sherif Makar to manage complex epilepsy cases.
With over 20 years of experience , including time in Spine & Orthopedics and Acute Rehab, Astrid has managed patients with severe, high-acuity conditions. She understands the "full cycle" of neurology, from the hospital emergency room to long-term recovery. This allows her to spot potential complications early and coordinate care effectively with your other specialists.
Absolutely. Astrid spent years working in a Spine & Ortho Progressive Care Unit. She has a strong understanding of how spinal conditions intersect with neurology (such as neuropathy or radiculopathy). She can evaluate your symptoms, order necessary MRI Imaging, and discuss pain management strategies or referrals for surgical evaluation if needed.
Yes. Astrid is currently welcoming new patients for consultations and follow-up management in our Lake Mary office.
